With a lot of pressure in the world today to look like a bikini model, one person is trying to say that you can look great in a swimsuit even if you have had children. It’s tough for new moms to want to get back onto the beach in a bikini because of what your midsection can look like after having children, but Rachel Hollis is defying the norm to prove that women everywhere can do the same.
Rachel Hollis posted a picture of herself on social media while she was in Cancun, and the mother of three captioned the photo with “I have stretch marks, and I wear a bikini.” The three children ages 8, 6 and 2 were all along for the trip with Hollis and her husband. Hollis noted “I have a belly that’s permanently flabby from carrying three giant babies, and I wear a bikini. My belly button is saggy, and I wear a bikini.”
Hollis is trying to inspire other mothers to do the same thing, and not be ashamed of their bodies; she went on to say “I wear a bikini because I’m proud of this body, and every mark on it. Those marks prove that I was blessed enough to carry my babies, and that flabby tummy means I worked hard to lose what weight I could. Flaunt that body with pride!”
Numerous women responded positively to the Hollis’s photo, and with it several hundreds of thousands of Facebook likes and comments; when she was trying to get a good shot on the beach, the one that she went with was one that she thought was too awkward at first.
Hollis says that she’s never going to be like a “Victoria’s Secret model,” but that it’s OK because those standards aren’t really easy to obtain; she did, however, finish a marathon just a week before the picture was taken, and mentioned that it’s all about working as best on yourself as you can.
